A Romantic Elopement in Paris
Lydie and Romain chose a Paris elopement, spending a single day moving between some of the city’s most romantic corners. Rather than one venue, their day became a tour of the city itself, from grand museum steps to quiet café terraces. So the whole of Paris became their backdrop. Here is how their elopement unfolded, location by location.
The Golden Gates of Petit Palais
Our first stop was the Petit Palais, with its extraordinary golden entrance gates and sweeping stone steps. The architecture here is some of the most ornate in Paris. As a result, every frame felt like a painting before we had even started. Lydie and Romain took a quiet moment on the steps, away from the crowds gathering nearby.
The Eiffel Tower From Pont Alexandre III and Trocadero
No Paris elopement feels complete without the Eiffel Tower, so we made our way towards it slowly. On Pont Alexandre III, a golden lamppost framed the tower perfectly behind the couple. From there, we continued to the Trocadero gardens, where the balustrade gives one of the best views in the city. In fact, this stretch of the day gave us some of my favourite images.
Crossing Pont de Bir-Hakeim
Later in the day, we crossed Pont de Bir-Hakeim, another bridge with the Eiffel Tower rising directly behind it. Meanwhile, a Metro train rattled past overhead, adding movement and a real sense of place to the images. Lydie and Romain paused halfway across for a quiet embrace, with the whole city seemingly holding still around them.
The Louvre Pyramid and Colonnade
From there, we headed to the Louvre, where the glass pyramid gave us a completely different backdrop to work with. Its clean lines contrasted beautifully with Lydie’s dress. So we spent time exploring both the courtyard and the colonnade running alongside it. Every angle around the Louvre offered something new to frame the couple within.
Ending the Paris Elopement at Palais Royal
We finished the day at Palais Royal, wandering through its arched passageways before reaching the courtyard beyond. Nearby, the striped awnings of Cafe Palais Royal gave the perfect spot to sit down at last. Lydie and Romain shared a quiet coffee together, still in their wedding clothes, as the day came to a natural close. It felt like the most fitting way to end a Paris elopement.
Lydie and Romain’s elopement proved that Paris itself can be a venue. Between the Metro, the museums and the quiet café corners, the whole city became part of their story. We will usually take about twenty minutes for a wander together around the Petit Palais, Pont Alexandre III and the Trocadero, with gentle direction whenever it is useful. You do not need to be a natural in front of the camera or know how to pose. Leave that to me.
