Mulberry House Wedding Venue: An Essex Guide
Set within around 22 acres of Essex countryside in High Ongar, Mulberry House is a Georgian country house wedding venue with real versatility. With a lakeside gazebo for outdoor ceremonies, a beamed indoor ceremony room and a marquee for the evening party, it is a venue I think deserves a place on your shortlist.
The House and Grounds
The red brick house and its gardens give couples a classic English country backdrop. From the front steps to the wooden bridge over the lake, there is no shortage of beautiful spots for relaxed wedding portraits.

Outdoor Ceremonies at the Gazebo
Mulberry House is licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 130 guests, either in the beamed Oak Room or outdoors at the gazebo. For Siân and Nathaneal, the outdoor option was exactly what they had hoped for, with guests seated on white chairs on the lawn. The venue can also move a ceremony indoors if the weather turns.

Getting Ready at Mulberry House
The house has plenty of light and character for bridal prep, from soft wallpapered rooms to large windows that make beautiful natural light for portraits.

The Wedding Breakfast Room
For the wedding breakfast, guests sit down in a beamed reception room with long tables that suit colourful, relaxed styling. Mulberry House also has a conservatory and patio that work well for drinks and canapés.

Dancing in the Marquee
The marquee attaches to the main house and is listed as seating up to 140 guests for a sit down meal and up to 200 for an evening reception. With its draped ceiling and its own bar, it makes a brilliant party space for live bands and dancing late into the evening.

Why I Think Mulberry House Is the Perfect Wedding Venue
Mulberry House offers the best of both worlds: a refined Georgian setting with the freedom to make the day your own. Whether you dream of an outdoor ceremony by the lake or a party that runs into the night, it adapts beautifully.

Why Choose Megan Maxwell as Your Wedding Photographer
People should choose me as their Mulberry House wedding photographer because I know how to tell a story. After fifteen years as a television director and writer at the BBC, I bring a documentary approach to wedding photography, with an eye for the moments, relationships and little details that make your day yours.
I work in a documentary style for most of the day, quietly in the background, capturing the hugs, the happy tears, the questionable dance moves and all the brilliant, unexpected things going on around you. Somewhere like the lake, the gazebo and the manor house gives me endless moments to watch for. I want you to spend your day with your favourite people, not worrying about where I am or what you should be doing.
I know how much it matters to have photographs of the two of you looking incredible. We will usually take around twenty minutes for a wander together at the grounds, with a little gentle direction when it helps. You do not have to know how to pose or feel at ease in front of a camera. That is what I am there for.
I want my photographs to be as beautiful as they are meaningful. Images full of life, personality and rich colour that show not just what your wedding looked like but how it felt to be there.
In the end I want you to have a collection that tells the whole story. The big moments, the little moments, the people you love and everything you might otherwise have missed. Photographs you will love now and treasure for years to come.
Every collection includes full day coverage with no set hours, travel is included and your previews arrive within 48 hours.
