Wedding Photography at Rookery Hall.
A Wedding Venue in Worleston, Cheshire
Rookery Hall is the perfect wedding venue because it effortlessly blends historic charm with modern luxury, offering stunning backdrops. From its grand Georgian architecture to its beautifully manicured gardens, it creates timeless memories.
Getting Ready and a First Look
Claire got ready upstairs in one of the suites where she popped some bubbly and did Baby Guinness shots with the girls. One of my favourite moments of the day came just before the ceremony: a first look with her dad and stepdad. Both bursting with pride, they gave each other a big hug and welled up as they looked at their girl.
The Ceremony and Portraits on the Staircase
The ceremony in the Worleston Suite was beautiful. Their little girl wanted to join in and stayed close to Claire throughout. Afterwards, we stepped out into the gardens for portraits, letting the setting do the work. The real magic of the day happened on the staircase. All we needed were five quiet minutes and some dramatic light using off camera flash.
A Singing Waiter and Sparklers
After the main course was served, a singing waiter surprised all of the guests with a performance that got them up and dancing. When the sun went down, we lit sparklers outside and Claire joined her bridesmaids at the bar for a round of baby Guinness shots.

As a Wedding Photographer, This Is Why You Should Choose Rookery Hall
Rookery Hall sits at the end of a sweeping drive, a Georgian manor house that blends historic charm with modern luxury. Picture postcard gardens give way to wide lawns that look out over miles of rolling Cheshire countryside and the 38 acres of grounds mean there are beautiful areas for photographs in every direction.
You can marry in the characterful Morning Room or the Nantwich Suite or step outside for an outdoor ceremony on the lawns. The suites double as dressing rooms where your wedding party can gather and get ready together, which suits a morning with a first look.
Stay the night before or after so the celebration never has to end. It feels like a proper country house escape.
Why Choose Megan Maxwell as Your Wedding Photographer
People should choose me as their Rookery Hall wedding photographer because I know how to tell a story. After fifteen years as a television director and writer at the BBC, I bring a documentary approach to wedding photography, with an eye for the moments, relationships and little details that make your day yours. Their day at Rookery Hall began with getting ready and a first look.
My style is mostly documentary. I will be in the background for most of the day, catching the hugs, the happy tears, the questionable dance moves and all the unexpected things that happen around you. With the Morning Room, the Nantwich Suite and the sweeping lawns there is plenty to photograph. You get to spend your wedding day with your favourite people instead of thinking about where the photographer is or what you should be doing.
Photographs of the two of you looking incredible matter too. We will usually take about twenty minutes for a wander together around the gardens and the lawns, with gentle direction whenever it is useful. You do not need to be a natural in front of the camera or know how to pose. Leave that to me.
Beautiful and meaningful matter equally to me. I make images full of life, personality and rich colour that capture not just what your wedding looked like but how it felt to be there.
What I want most is for you to have a collection of photographs that tells the whole story. The big moments, the little moments and the people you love, plus all the things you might otherwise have missed. Photographs to enjoy now and treasure for years to come.
Every collection includes full day coverage with no set hours, travel is included and your previews arrive within 48 hours.
