A Manor House Wedding Venue in Essex
The beautiful Mulberry House in High Ongar, Essex was the perfect location for Siân and Nathaneal’s big day. They had been hoping for an outdoor ceremony and we could not have been luckier with the weather, considering we were now in autumn.
Bridal Prep and a Thoughtful Surprise
During bridal prep, Nathaneal gave Siân the most thoughtful gift. A few years ago, she wrote her very own children’s book about a little creature called Snout and Nathaneal found a way to turn this tiny protagonist into a real life toy. Siân had no idea and it was such a gorgeous surprise.
The Wedding Breakfast and a Wall of Letters
The surprises did not end there. When the guests entered the reception room for the wedding breakfast, there was a wall of envelopes waiting for them. Each one contained a handwritten letter for one of their guests.
Clearly they had written some lovely things because, as they were read, there were lots of smiles and a few tears too.
His and Hers Cocktails
The day continued with his and hers cocktails and plenty of time on the dance floor.
With Nathaneal on the drums, the band played into the late evening.
It was a day filled with thoughtful surprises, an abundance of blooms and an excellent party. Huge congratulations to you both, here is to many more celebratory cocktails together.

Mulberry House is built around its lake. It sits in 22 acres of Essex countryside and the Garden Room Restaurant and terrace look straight out over the water. The grounds are extensive, with a lakeside gazebo, woodland and plenty of space for beautiful photographs, which gave us so many places to go on a lucky autumn day.
If you want to marry outdoors the lakeside gazebo is a gorgeous setting and indoors the Oak Room offers a more traditional civil ceremony. A marquee can attach to the main house for a bigger celebration and there are woodland weddings if you want something quietly different.
With 23 en suite bedrooms your guests can wake up at the venue too. The house is full of lovely spaces to get ready and show rounds run seven days a week if you want to see it for yourselves.

After fifteen years as a television director and writer at the BBC, I bring a documentary approach to wedding photography, with an eye for the moments, relationships and little details that make your day yours. Siân and Nathaneal’s day was full of thoughtful touches, from a gift during bridal prep to a wall of handwritten envelopes for their guests.
My approach is predominantly documentary. For most of the day I will be blending into the background, capturing the hugs, the happy tears, the questionable dance moves and all the brilliant, unexpected things happening around you. With the lake, the gazebo and the Oak Room to work with, there is always something happening. I want you to spend your wedding day with your favourite people, not worrying about where the photographer is or what you are supposed to be doing.
I also know how important it is to have photographs of the two of you looking incredible. We will usually take around twenty minutes for a wander together around the lakeside, with a little gentle direction when it is helpful. You do not need to know how to pose or feel particularly comfortable in front of a camera. That is my job.
I care about making photographs that are as beautiful as they are meaningful. Images full of life, personality and rich colour that capture not just what your wedding looked like but how it felt to be there.
