Wedding Photography at Sandon Hall.
A Country House Wedding Venue in Staffordshire
As a wedding photographer, there is something truly magical about capturing love stories at this stunning Staffordshire venue. Amy and Sam’s wedding in April was no exception. Even the rain could not dampen their spirits or stop us from creating some unforgettable portraits in Sandon Hall’s incredible gardens.
An Infectious Energy From the Start
From the moment I arrived, I knew this day was going to be special. Amy and Sam have an infectious energy that made photographing them an absolute joy. Their excitement and warmth radiated through every part of the day and I felt so lucky to be a part of it.
Rain Did Not Stop the Garden Portraits
It was a rainy day but we were determined to make the most of the breathtaking grounds. Sandon Hall’s gardens, even in the rain, were vibrant and the rhododendrons were in full bloom. Armed with a couple of umbrellas and a sense of adventure, we hopped aboard the golf buggies to venture outside and I am so glad we did. The soft overcast light was perfect for romantic portraits and Amy and Sam embraced every moment.
Making the Most of Every Backdrop
Wedding photos were their number one priority and it showed. We carved out time throughout the day to capture a wide variety of images, from intimate moments in the gardens and elegant staircase shots to joyful group photos and editorial couple portraits in the grounds. Sandon Hall offers so many beautiful backdrops and we made full use of them all.
Grandeur Inside, Wild Romance Outside
Inside, the grandeur of the house provided the perfect contrast to the wild romance of the gardens. The ceremony was filled with emotion and the reception had the most wonderful happy energy. It was one of those weddings where you can feel the love in the room from start to finish.
If you are planning a wedding at Sandon Hall, do not be afraid of a little rain. It might just lead to some of your favourite photos of the day. Amy and Sam certainly proved that a grey sky can still shine brightly when you are surrounded by love, laughter and a beautiful setting. As a Wedding Photographer, This Is Why You Should Choose Sandon Hall
Sandon Hall has a real sense of occasion. You turn off the road and drive a mile through parkland, with 400 acres of Staffordshire countryside around you and the house waiting at the end. That drive alone is worth the visit. The gardens are extensive and offer so many beautiful areas for photographs and even on a rainy April day we found lovely places to be outside.
Every one of the principal rooms is licensed for ceremonies, so you can choose the mood. Walk down the grand staircase of the Saloon, marry in the intimate Library looking out over the rear gardens or find a quiet moment in the Drawing Room with its Chinoiserie wallpaper and chandeliers. The Victorian conservatory is a botanical haven for drinks and it is bright and airy for natural light indoors.
The Saloon staircase is stunning for portraits and the whole house has a warmth that makes guests feel looked after. Sandon also offers luxury stays for the people you love.
Why Choose Megan Maxwell as Your Wedding Photographer
People should choose me as their Sandon Hall wedding photographer because I know how to tell a story. After fifteen years as a television director and writer at the BBC, I bring a documentary approach to wedding photography, with an eye for the moments, relationships and little details that make your day yours. Amy and Sam’s April day was rainy and full of infectious energy and we still made the most of the garden portraits.
My approach is predominantly documentary. For most of the day I will be blending into the background, capturing the hugs, the happy tears, the questionable dance moves and all the brilliant, unexpected things happening around you. With the Saloon staircase, the Drawing Room and the conservatory to work with, there is always something happening. I want you to spend your wedding day with your favourite people, not worrying about where the photographer is or what you are supposed to be doing.
I also know how important it is to have photographs of the two of you looking incredible. We will usually take around twenty minutes for a wander together around the gardens, with a little gentle direction when it is helpful. You do not need to know how to pose or feel particularly comfortable in front of a camera. That is my job.
I care about making photographs that are as beautiful as they are meaningful. Images full of life, personality and rich colour that capture not just what your wedding looked like but how it felt to be there.
Ultimately I want you to have a collection of photographs that tells the whole story. The big moments, the little moments, the people you love and all the things you might otherwise have missed. Photographs you will love looking at now and treasure for years to come.
Every collection includes full day coverage with no set hours, travel is included and your previews arrive within 48 hours.
